ME to WE
A for-profit company, metowe offers a range of lifestyle products and travel experiences. Their mission is to empower people and change the world. They collaborate with communities in India and Ecuador to provide opportunities for youth to improve their lives.
ME to WE Travels Cost
On the WE Charity website, there are trips that allow participants from North America to "step into the shoes of Maasai warriors" in Kenya or experience a "shamanic ceremony and get hands-on weapons training" in Ecuador. They also include tours to an "agricultural learning centre," a jungle walk or canoe ride, and work on a development project.
ME to WE Youth Trips
The ME to WE Youth Trip allows young travelers to get to know the people and communities of WE Charity, a TreadRight supported charity. They will build a school or clean-water system with the local community and participate in leadership workshops.
Several of the WE Day events organized by WE Charity in Canada and around the world, notably in Vancouver and Calgary, have been tagged with hashtags related to a city (#wedayvancouver or #yyc) and a specific WE event, which are evidence of problematic urban-based educational programming. These concerts-style experiences are great fun for students. But, the cohashtag graphic shows that these programs promote privilege hierarchies that were previously not recognized in Canada.
