Machines are what we trust

In Machines We Trust Podcast is about the automation and transformation of our world. Automation is everywhere, and artificial intelligence is at the heart of these systems. They make decisions based upon massive amounts of data. This includes dynamic pricing online and "reading" job application applications before humans. It's fascinating and should be on everyone’s radar.

Susie Armstrong

Among the many topics that are covered in this podcast is the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Susie Armstrong is the SVP of engineering at Qualcomm and discusses the current state of AI. She also discusses ways that women in the technology sector can improve society by breaking down stereotypes and embracing diversity.

MIT Technology Review's Turing test

Turing tests are a common way to test how intelligent computers can perform. The Turing test can be tricky to do correctly. The test is conducted by having an interrogator ask a series of questions to a test subject. The two test subjects are separated and have no physical contact. The test subjects responses are then evaluated in order to find out if they can recognize non-human and human responses. If they answer one question differently from a machine, a human might fail the Turing Test.

Also, the Turing test is controversial. Some critics say that the Turing Test does not measure high-intelligent behavior. To pass the test, a machine must be as intelligent as a person. The machine cannot appear to be too intelligent. It would have to solve computational problems that are not possible for humans.
